2020 ANNUAL BIKE ROUND UP

Annually, following Commencement, members of the Tulane University Police Department remove bicycles that are locked to fixed objects (bicycle racks, handrails, trees, etc.).

Abandoned bicycles take up valuable space on campus bicycle racks for the upcoming summer programs and make the university a target for potential incidents of theft. This year, bicycle removal will occur May 29, 30, and 31 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 1 a.m., so as to not interfere with those who commute by bicycle during regular business hours. Faculty, staff, and students should not allow their bicycles to remain on campus overnight during this date range. If a bicycle must be left on campus overnight, please mark the bicycle as being in use by wrapping brightly colored ribbon on the handlebars.

If your bicycle is collected by mistake, contact the Tulane University Police Department evidence custodian, at property@tulane.edu in order to schedule an appointment to have your bicycle released.  Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Note, since the abrupt evacuation of students because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, bicycles confiscated will be held for an extra 90days after the fall semester begins. After the 90 days if your bicycle remains in custody it will be marked for destruction or donation to a local charity in accordance with Louisiana Revised Statute 33:2333. If you are interested in donating your bicycle to a local charity before the bicycle removal dates or any other questions, please email your questions to property@tulane.edu.

Respectfully,

Tulane University Police Department
