Join the TDC as we welcome Assemblyman Steve Stern of the New York State Assembly and Craig Johnson, former New York State Senator, for a timely discussion on the evolving intersection of data, artificial intelligence, and democratic governance. Assemblyman Stern is currently serving his fourth term in the NY State Assembly, a position he has held since 2018. This conversation will explore how advances in AI-driven analytics, voter data infrastructure, and digital platforms are reshaping modern elections. Topics will include voter turnout modeling, resource allocation in campaigns, predictive analytics, election security in the age of AI, combating misinformation and deepfakes, and data-driven voter outreach. Drawing on his experience as a four-time elected official, Assemblyman Stern will provide firsthand insight into how policymakers and campaigns adapt to rapidly changing technologies while safeguarding democratic institutions. The discussion will also address the ethical and transparency challenges that arise as data becomes more central to political decision-making. This event is designed to foster greater data literacy, civic engagement, and critical understanding of how technology influences elections. We are inviting all students interested in data science, public policy, and the future of democracy.
