Blowing Up the Brass Ceiling

The only all-female brass band in New Orleans, the Original Pinettes Brass Band was founded in 1991. Since the band’s inception, they’ve broken down barriers for women in the brass band scene and inspired audiences the world over with their distinctive sound. Featuring student documentary work by TIL 504, this event traces the triumphs and difficulties of the Pinettes’ thirty-plus-year career in music. Join the Pinettes and the students of TIL 504 for a lively conversation as we explore just what it means to “blow up the brass ceiling.”
