At once profoundly beautiful, sad, and empowering, the short film Bunchi tells to story of an Ethiopian immigrant family living in Israel. The film follows Bunchi, as she re-discovers herself while caring for her mother-in-law and two teenage daughters after her husband unexpectedly leaves them and returns to Ethiopia. Described as one of the most sensitive and feminist films about Ethiopain-Israeli women, Bunchi re-examines traditional concepts of female identity and familial roles.

Lake Theater doors open at 5:45pm

Film begins at 6:00pm followed by a talk back with film writer and director Esri Almo Wexler and producer Elad Wexler.

Tulane University Libraries is proud to host this event in partnership with Jewish Studies, the Language Learning Center, Newcomb Institute, and Cinema Studies.
