Concert Piano Series - Lu Piano Duo

The internationally acclaimed LU Piano Duo has delighted audiences both locally and throughout the world with their superior technique and eclectic mixture of musical styles.  Jie Deng Lu and Ning Lu, both natives of China and graduates of the best conservatories in their native country, are currently faculty artist-teachers at the University of Utah’s School of Music.

 

These two musicians are in great demand as duo pianists, and they perform as soloists and chamber musicians as well. Their international performance venues include Vienna, Austria; Krakow, Poland; Frankfurt and Manheim, Germany; the UK; Switzerland; Scotland; Israel; and Japan. During extended musical tours abroad, they delighted audiences in Hong Kong, Macao, Beijing, Nanjing, and Shanghai, China. In the United States, they have given acclaimed performances in Hawaii, North Carolina, Texas, New York, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington, Illinois, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah.

 

The growing fame of these artists has brought them invitations to perform in festivals like the Colorado Music Festival, the Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Festival, and The 6th China National Golden Bell Music Festival, the Illinois Summer Music Festival, and the Lake Konstanz International Music Festival. They have performed in the Duke University Artist Concert Series, at New York’s Carnegie Hall, and in the prestigious Xian Xing Hai music Hall in Guangzhou, China.  During these highly praised performances, the LUs have collaborated with numerous outstanding orchestras and musical ensembles, including the Salt Lake Symphony, the Utah Symphony, the University of Utah Jazz Band, the Texas Valley Symphony, the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale, the University of Colorado Orchestra, the Jefferson Symphony, the Beijing Central Conservatory Orchestra, and the China Youth Symphony.

 

The concert Piano Series brings acclaimed pianists from around to world to the Dixon Hall stage. December 1 features Jie and Ning Lu.

The LUs not only perform together as one of today’s top piano duos; they also include judging and teaching in their busy schedules.  The LUs have acted as judges in numerous local, regional, and international piano competitions, including the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Artists Competition, Gina Bachauer International Junior and Young Artist Competition, and the Gina Bachauer Amateur Artists Competition.  Popular music professors at the University of Utah, they have also been invited to give master classes throughout the world: Vienna Haydn Music Conservatory, Frankfurt Music Conservatory, Duke University, the University of Hawaii, the University of Texas at San Antonio, Nanjing Normal University, Beijing Central Music Conservatory, and the University of Illinois Summer Piano Festival.

 

Regularly performing in China, LU Piano Duo was invited to perform as featured artists at the World Expo in Shanghai, and Central Conservatory of Music School Founding Anniversary Concert.  As favorite musical artists in the local area, they appear frequently in performance at Temple Square, the University of Utah School of Music (UofU), Brigham Young University (BYU), Utah Valley University (UVU), and Weber State University (WSU).
