CPS Service Trip to Pointe-Aux-Chenes

Uptown Campus
Diboll Shuttle Stop

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida with Tulane's CPS and the Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe

We are entering someone else’s community during their hardest times. It is important for us to educate ourselves about whom we’re serving and the community’s history so that we can serve ethically and compassionately. Please visit the tribe's website before your service trip and complete this mandatory ethical service quiz

We will depart from the Diboll Shuttle Stop on Saturday at 7:30 AM and return no later than 5:00 PM. Tulane students, staff, and faculty are welcome to attend, and registering here will reserve you a seat on the bus. The Pointe-Aux-Chenes community center is 1.5 hours from the Diboll Shuttle Stop. If you have any questions, please email us at sl@tulane.edu

Be sure to dress for debris removal. This includes wearing long pants and boots or closed-toed shoes and bringing a hat, heavy duty gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, a water bottle and a mask. (We will have back up gloves, water, etc. so don't worry if you don't have these.)

The tribe will prepare a lunch for us that will likely include meat (i.e. red beans, jambalaya). We’ll have some vegan-friendly snacks on hand, but feel free to bring your own snacks and food to supplement and suit your dietary preferences.

The service trip dates are:

10/9
10/16
10/23
10/30
11/6
11/13
