An Evening of Arabic Music with Sami Abu Shumays

The MENA Staff and Faculty Affinity Group are excited to be hosting Sami Abu Shumays on Friday December 5th at 5pm in Lake Theater. Sami is a violinist and leading performer and teacher of Arabic music. He has co-authored the acclaimed book Inside Arabic Music with Johnny Farraj. Sami will be leading a quartet in performing pieces from the classical repertoire of Arabic music of the Levant and Egypt, including songs by Umm Kalthoum and Mohammed Abdul Wahhab.
