Film Screening; Futur Drei (No Hard Feelings)
Please join the Department of Comparative Literature for a screening of Faraz Shariat’s Futur Drei (No Hard Feelings, 2020), on Wednesday April 1 at 5:00 PM in Howard Tilton 116.
Futur Drei is a film that relays the vicissitudes of life in the diaspora and in the refugee system at once. The queer German-Iranian protagonist navigates daily life in Germany by gliding from one experience to another. The new friends he makes in the local asylum centre, however, face one impasse after another to establish a life in Germany. The protagonist’s routines are not merely nonchalant: he feels unease in all the settings he traverses, which drives him to seek new experiences. To articulate this unease and the impasse, the film segments the film into different vignettes, which draw on different aesthetic styles and modes to relay their content.
The film screening will be followed by a lecture from guest speaker Dr. Ervin Malakaj on Tuesday April 7th at 5:00 PM in Stone Auditorium, followed by a catered reception. We hope you will attend both.
