The events are held in the Diboll Gallery at Newcomb Institute, on the third floor of The Commons - lunch is provided and the event is free and open to the public.

Fridays at Newcomb: Alice in Pornoland - Curious Recoveries of Feminine Agency in Neo-Victorian Porn
Laura Helen Marks is a Professor of Practice in English at Tulane. Her work on pornographic genre, adaptation, and neo-Victorian studies has appeared in Sexualities, Porn Studies, Salon, Feminist Media Histories, The Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, and many edited collections such as From Porno Chic to the Sex Wars and Menstruation Now.
Marks is also a contributor to the adult film oral history podcast, The Rialto Report, and has served as an expert for mainstream media outlets including the BBC and Motherboard. Her book, Alice in Pornoland: Hardcore Encounters With the Victorian Gothic, was published by Illinois University Press in 2018 and has been nominated for the MLA Prize for a First Book and the SCMS First Book Prize.
