Bio: Allison Cruz was born in rural Illinois, but grew up in Florida and has since lived in Louisiana, Montana, New York, Tennessee, and back to Louisiana for good. Allison has worked at Tulane since 2011 and serves as Assistant Dean & Executive Director of Academic Enrichment. In her role, Allison leads an excellent team of professional and student staff to create programs that help students find meaning and purpose in their lives through connections with faculty and innovative experiences inside and outside the classroom. Allison has her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University, a B.A. in sociology from Loyola University New Orleans and is working towards her PhD in sociology in the City, Culture, and Community program at Tulane. Allison is a mom to three precocious children, loves nonfiction, baking, travel, and experiencing the music, food, parades, and culture of New Orleans.
She will be joined by the co-authors of The Hidden Profession study.
Fridays at Newcomb is a lecture series with speakers across disciplines that provides students with the opportunity to learn about subjects outside of their majors. Lunch provided. It is free and open to the public.
