Speaker: Soojin Pate, PhD

Bio: SooJin Pate is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Race, Ethnic, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at St. Olaf College where she teaches comparative and intersectional approaches to the study of race, history, and literature in the U.S. Informed by the liberatory education she received at Howard University, Pate transforms her classrooms into sites of liberatory possibility and social change, as she engages in decolonial, anti-oppressive pedagogical praxis. She is the author of From Orphan to Adoptee: U.S. Empire and Genealogies of Korean Adoption and was named Educator of the Year and Ally of the Year by Macalester College. Her podcasts Antiracist Parenting Podcast and Decolonize Yourself are available on major platforms.
