Fridays at Newcomb: Sarah Omojola

Sarah Omojola is the associate director of the New Orleans office of the Vera Institute of Justice. Her work focuses on helping to manage and measure the progress of different programs, building relationships to expand Vera’s work into other parts of Louisiana, and driving efforts to reshape prosecution in New Orleans. Prior to joining Vera, Sarah taught high school English in New Orleans. Afterward, she began her legal career in California, where she trained educators to implement supportive school climate frameworks, advocated for statewide educational equity, and improved juvenile justice policies. In 2016, Sarah returned home to New Orleans to become the policy counsel for the Southern Poverty Law Center, where she led statewide and local policy advocacy regarding children's rights, criminal justice reform, immigration, economic justice and LGBT rights. Sarah is a New Orleans native and received her JD from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and her BA in English from Louisiana State University.
