Title: “Trauma-Informed Schools”
Bio: Stacy Overstreet, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Tulane University. She has published multiple empirical studies and conceptual papers related to the impact of trauma on youth and trauma-informed approaches in schools. She is a founding member of the New Orleans Trauma-Informed Schools Learning Collaborative and she served as the co-editor of a 2016 special issue on trauma-informed schools in the journal, School Mental Health. Dr. Overstreet was the PI on a previous grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education to develop a training program in trauma-focused school psychology and she is the PI on a current grant funded by the National Institute of Justice to determine whether a multi-component implementation strategy for trauma-informed schools improves school safety by aligning staff attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors with a trauma-informed approach.
