March 21, 2023 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Uptown CampusFor this event, you will choose whether to work on Laser Cutting or 3D printing. You will learn to design for and use one of these tools and walk away with your own 3d print or laser cut wood design!
Join us to go from idea to your design to physical object you can take home in just 2 hours! Parametric CAD and laser cutting is a super powerful tool to create dimensionally precsise designs!
Try to come with a laptop with Fusion 360 or Inkscape for laser cutters. To get a free student license go to Autodesk's Website (https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview?sorting=feature...) and create a student account with your Tulane Email. For inkscape, you can download for free without an account at https://inkscape.org/
This event will be held at the Tulane Makerspace (https://makerspace.tulane.edu/index.php/MakerSpace_Access), and is open to all current Tulane Students.
To those with experience with Rhino (Architecture's chosen CAD software), we highly recommend learning a parametric CAD software like Fusion if you want to create 3d prints! It makes designing for manufacturing much easier.
