Music Rising at Tulane presents L'Union Creole Concert Series

Other

Featuring José Fermín and Merengue 4

The L'Union Creole concert series is back for another season! The season starts with José Férmin Ceballos and his merengue band, Merengue 4! As usual, the event will begin with interviews with the band followed by a live recorded concert.

In its third year, L'Union Creole Concert Series is curated by Bruce Sunpie Barnes and sponsored by the Preservation Hall Foundation, New Orleans Center for the Gulf South at Tulane University, the Neighborhood Story Project and University of New Orleans. Please join us for this free event that is open to the public.

About our series: Corner spaces are important to the deep musical connections that have been created in New Orleans. Musicians continually point to them as places where they have tuned their ears to the rich traditions of the city. Sunday evenings, in particular, have been a time when musicians have gathered after church and second line parades to play music and catch up with one another. To honor these important intersections of time and place, Music Rising at Tulane, New Orleans Center for the Gulf South (Nola Gulf South), Preservation Hall Foundation, and The Neighborhood Story Project, will hold our second L'Union Creole concert series from January through May of 2020. Each performance begins with live recordings and interviews with the musicians about their musical lineages, inspirations, and connections to place.
