The Newcomb Scholars Program selects twenty intellectually curious and motivated first-year students to participate in an academically rigorous, interdisciplinary learning and leadership experience.

The Newcomb Scholars Program is the only selective, small cohort program for Tulane University undergraduates focused on feminist leadership. Together, the Scholars make up a community of diverse thinkers, leaders, and activists. With the help of their peers, the Newcomb faculty and staff, and the vast array of resources available to them through Newcomb Institute, Scholars are empowered to develop the skills necessary to become innovative and compassionate leaders in the 21st century. 

As a Newcomb Scholar, you will:

• Develop a diverse set of leadership skills, from public speaking and networking to critical data analysis.

• Take part in special seminar courses designed to develop your writing and research skills. These classes will prepare you to complete a two-semester independent research project tailored to your academic and post-graduate interests. Each seminar course is small, allowing you to develop close relationships with your faculty and cohort.

• Access resources available only to Newcomb Scholars. We offer generous financial support to allow you to participate in applied learning opportunities like competitive internships, academic research, and nation-wide conferences.

• Connect with Tulane faculty, nationally renowned visiting lecturers, and Newcomb alumnae, many of whom are thought leaders in their professions.

First-year, full-time students in the Newcomb-Tulane undergraduate college are eligible to apply to the Newcomb Scholars program during their first fall semester at Tulane University. We encourage you to attend one of our information sessions during the first weeks of class before applying.
