Season of the Swamp (Graywolf Press, trans. by Lisa Dillman, 2024) reconstructs through archives and fiction the time that Benito Juárez, the first and only indigenous president of Mexico, spent in New Orleans as an exile between 1853-1855. The novel was published originally in Spanish as La estación del pantano(Periférica, 2022).
