Scott N. Nolan is a Senior Professor of Practice in American Politics. His courses focus on courts, law, public policy, healthcare, identity politics like race, gender, and sexuality, as well as statistical methods of political research. Join Dr. Nolan for a conversation that examines the historical and legal developments that influenced the recognition and regulation of bisexuality, homosexuality, queer art, pornography, and erotica in the United States. By tracing shifts from prohibition and public controversy toward broader legal acknowledgment, this discussion will analyze how changing social norms, cultural expression, and legal frameworks influenced these areas over time. This event places these histories within current contexts about law, culture, and evolving understandings to help participants make more informed decisions regarding personal freedom and expression. Please contact Campus Health/The Well for Health Promotion at whp@tulane.edu at least two weeks in advance of the event if you have accessibility needs and need a disability-related accommodation to participate.
