Our spring concert always marks a moment of reflection and joy, but this year, more so than most. Tonight, we consider “Through Lines”: that which connects, weaves, maintains, and transforms.

In considering the past we celebrate the legacy of longtime Director of Bands Barry Spanier, who retired after 21 years at the conclusion of a historic football season that culminated in a College Football Playoff appearance.

As we look upon the present, Tulane Bands is premiering its first-ever commissioned wind band work, composed by Dr. James David. This artistic feat is made possible through the generosity of alumna Gillian Duncan and Michael Belknap, and serves as a testament to the growth, fortitude, and musicianship of our talented musicians who continue to raise the bar, year after year.

And to the future: we are committed to the growth and vitality of Tulane Bands— a cornerstone of Tulane, uniting the artistic, the social, the athletic, and the academic.
