Work-in-progress talk by Luciana Brito, 2024-25 Richard E. Greenleaf Fellow at the Latin American Library. The talk will focus on the story of Sabina da Cruz, a freed African woman who denounced the MalĂȘs Revolt, an insurrection by Muslim Africans, which occurred in Bahia in January 1835.
