From Within: A Contemporary Vision of Stained Glass

Artist Emma Fick will discuss the process behind building the stained-glass-inspired triptych for the library, using distinctly modern materials to both make reference to -- and depart from -- an ages-old art tradition. She will explain the process she developed using plastic and LED lights -- instead of glass and the sun -- to bring a medium developed for religious spaces into a modern and secular context. She will also explain the symbolism within both the From Within triptych and the In Search of Language mobile.
