Women & Movement #13, African American Women Affecting the Arts: Multi-hyphenate Hustlers: Cobbling Together an Arts Career illustration

Join us for Multi-hyphenate Hustlers: Cobbling together an Arts Career in our annual panel discussion, Women and Movement #13: African American Women Affecting the Arts in New Orleans, organized by Dr. John “Ray” Proctor of the Tulane Department of Theatre and Dance and the Africana Studies Program.

The Women and Movement series is designed to collectively engage women scholars and artists from across the gulf south region to take part in discourse about place, performance, and the socio-political issues that transform their bodies, art, language, and greater community.

Panelists and select credits include: Jessica Mixon (a multi-hyphenate performing artist, host of The Self-Aware Millennial podcast and owner of Triple Threat Media), Krystal Gem (Grammy nominated vocalist, performing artist, and talent coach), Synamin Vixen (writer, educator, Black Studies scholar, singer, and choreographer), and Tenaj Wallace (multidisciplinary artist and community advocate). Moderated by Dr. Denise Frazier (educator, musician, and interdisciplinary artist). The discussion will last approximately 60 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A with the audience.
