Writing the Perfect Recital Program illustration

Concert programs are an important element of your recital. Your audience wants to know what they're hearing, who wrote it, and when it was created. Their experience of your performance could also be enhanced with just a little bit of engagingly written information that helps contextualize the music and if you're singing works in a foreign language your audience will definitely appreciate a translation.

This workshop will show you resources and strategies to help you gather all the information you need for a stellar concert program. Specifically, you will learn about:

  • resources to verify a composer's full name as well as accurate birth and death information;
  • places to find reliable song and aria translations;
  • music-specific reference and research resources to help you write those contextualizing program notes.

Requirements: none

This workshop will be: In-person only

Physical location of this workshop: 602
