Thursday Night Jazz, supported by a grant from Newcomb-Tulane College, is a new on-campus music series and a revamp of the Newcomb Department of Music’s long-running “Jazz At the Rat” program. Featured veteran jazz performers from the New Orleans music scene will be brought in each semester and perform along with the Jazz Program’s combos and big band. Events will be in the Recital Hall of Dixon Annex, 7-9pm, and free and open to students and the general public.
SoundWave Pep Band was founded in 1992, and was a vital group in efforts to 'bring back the marching band,' notably working with & fundraising with the Emeritus Club to do so in the years immediately prior to Katrina. SoundWave is a Tulane University Student Club, now under the auspices of the Tulane Band program: this is a parade in which they have frequently participated.
The TUMB makes its Mystics of Time Parade debut, performing in an out-of state parade - in Mobile, Alabama - for the first time. TUMB is this year's featured band in MoT's parade, playing in a Mardi Gras clinic during the day, and at the Mystics of Time Ball in the evening!
The Tulane University Marching Band which debuted at Carnival 2006 with 26 members now fields almost 100 members, - musicians, dance team & colorguard - for Carnival season 2020. The last parade performance this season by the TUMB is in Orpheus, first parading in 1994, which was co-founded, among others, by Tulane alumni Harry Connick Sr. & Jr. Orpheus was the first super Krewe with both male and female riders.
The Tulane University Marching Band appears in a Nyx parade for the second time! The all-female Krewe of Nyx began parading in 2012 & plans over 3383 riders in its 2019 parade making it the largest Super Krewe. https://www.kreweofnyx.org/

The L'Union Creole concert series is back for another season! The season starts with José Férmin Ceballos and his merengue band, Merengue 4! As usual, the event will begin with interviews with the band followed by a live recorded concert.
In its third year, L'Union Creole Concert Series is curated by Bruce Sunpie Barnes and sponsored by the Preservation Hall Foundation, New Orleans Center for the Gulf South at Tulane University, the Neighborhood Story Project and University of New Orleans. Immerse yourself in N̶O̶T̶ Supposed 2-BE Here, Newcomb's current exhibition featuring the incredible work of Brandan "BMike" Odums while enjoying an engaging discussion led by Melissa A. Weber. Weber, curator with Tulane University Special Collections, will lead a conversation with Mia X, "The Mama of The Southern Gangsta Music," on hip hop and New Orleans music, exploring why certain stories get to be included in those histories and why some stories get overlooked. .
Igor Resnianski received his formal music degrees in Russia graduating with distinctions from Novosibirsk Music College under Professor Elena Storojuk, and Novosibirsk State Conservatory under Professor Mary Lebenzon. He continued his studies in the United States completing the Artist Diploma program under Dr. Tamás Ungár at Texas Christian University. In addition, he studied as a full scholarship student at the Van Cliburn International Summer Piano Institute, where he was under the tutelage of distinguished musicians Paul Badura-Skoda, John Lill, Fanny Waterman, and György Sebök. Mr.
