Before he won the Tony Award for the stirring musical, Parade, or gained notoriety for his chamber musical, The Last Five Years, Jason Robert Brown announced his presence on the musical theatre scene with a staged song cycle entitled Songs for a New World. Connected by a theme: “the moment of decision,” Brown’s fresh musical voice, infusing musical theatre, jazz, and other popular music styles, is clearly unique and distinctive.

Life isn't always as pretty as it seems; is that okay? This is an interactive performance and audience members are encouraged to verbalize emotions and feelings evoked by the dance by clapping or calling out.

Young Performers

Students in Dance Composition II classes explore spatial design, sources of movement and elements of space, time, sape and motion. Building skills to communicate an understanding of movement, students explore choreography. This performance is a final presentation of what has been learned over the course of a semester presented by students.

 

Reservations required due to limited seating. Masks must be worn by audience.
