Introduction to Citation Management Tools

Citation management tools such as Zotero, RefWorks, EndNote and Mendeley can help you to store the citations you find during your research. They all make it incredibly easy to format a reference/works cited list. Which is best for you? This workshop will provide a brief overview of each tool so you can be aware of your options before deciding what tool is best for you.

Introduction to Data Management

This workshop we will provide guidance and best practices for managing, safeguarding and sharing your working and archived data. We will discuss resources available to you to support these efforts as well as best practices to improcve the efficency of the research process. Topics will include (not limited to): the research data lifecycle, file naming, version control and suggestions for data sharing and storage.

Finding Grants or Funding Opportunities in Research

Tulane University provides a lot of specialized resources and services to identify funding opportunities to support your projects, research, job. In this workshop put on by Tulane University Libraries, we will use some of the more "traditional" to investigate funding opportunities relevant to your field. We will also go outside the box and investigate creative ways to find relevant funding and grant opportunities that you may never have considered!

Organize and Cite Your Research Using Zotero

Zotero is a free tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share your research sources. In this workshop hosted by Tulane Universities Libraries, you will install Zotero, add sources to your library, learn the basics of organizing and managing, and create a bibliography in the citation style of your choice. Students will use Zotero to capture sources, including full-text, organize their collection, modify items, and output a bibliography manually and using word processor integration.

Creating and Archive for YOUR Student Organization with Tulane University Archives

What do you do with student organization records when they are no longer needed for operation, but still contain great information about your organization's existence on campus?  Consider creating an archive and transferring it to Tulane University Archives!

This workshop hosted by Tulane University Libraries will get your student organization started on the path to transferring an archive to Tulane University Archives.

Introduction to LabArchives Electronic Research Notebook

Designed to replace paper notebooks, LabArchives is a a secure, cloud-based electronic notebook that enables researchers to capture, manage, store, and share information and data. They are designed for intuitive use, ease of search, versioning, and archiving. In this workshop you will be provided an overview of LabArchives and learn the benefits of moving from a paper to an electronic notebook.

 

Introduction to EndNote X9

EndNote X9 is the citation management software that not only frees you from the tedious work of manually collecting and curating your research materials and formatting bibliographies, but also gives you greater ease and control in coordinating with your colleagues. In this workshop hosted by Tulane University Libraries, participants will learn how to install EndNote with Tulane settings, create an EndNote library, import search results from databases, and automatically create a bibliography in Microsoft Word.

Introducing the New PubMed

PubMed, the largest database of biomedical research, is undergoing a large redesign which will be made live this Fall. In these brief hands-on sessions, we will explore the changes made to PubMed such as the search interface, results algorithm, navigation, and more. Hosted by Tulane University Libraries, this session would be useful for either the new or experienced PubMed user.

Getting Ready to Write your Dissertation

This workshop hosted by Tulane University Libraries aims to support first and second-year graduate and professional students by discussing different stages and processes involved in writing a theses or dissertation. We will introduce key topics, resources, and strategies that will increase students' efficiency during the preparation, research, and writing phases. Students will walk away knowing how to locate theses/dissertations from Tulane and elsewhere, strategic reading strategies to increase retention, and the tools available to organize and then utilize your research.
