AUDITIONS for REFRAMED 2020

Inspired by recent events, Tulane's Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to announce auditions forREFRAMED 2020: A Festival of New Plays on Social Justice. Students will virtually rehearse and perform new material written in response to the events of 2020 in collaboration with professional directors from New York, California, and New Orleans. This piece encourages student artists and activists to use new live performance mediums to engage with movements occurring across America and the world. 

 

The five original 10 minute plays, created for this festival, will audition and rehearse on zoom and perform via livestream. The show runs October 15-18, 2020.

 

Directors include Tulane faculty members Jes Podewell and Jenny Mercein, joined by guest artist directors Sylvia Cervantes Blush, Zhailon Levingston, and Lori Elizabeth Parquet. Playwrights slated to contribute include Zury Ruiz and Timothy DuWhite. 

 

Auditions will be held in small groups on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rdfrom 6-8 pmon zoom. Interested parties should sign up for a 30 minute time slot at https://bit.ly/3g67Nar

 

There is no need to prepare material in advance for these auditions. Students will be given a prompt before the audition and asked to create a brief response to the material as their audition piece.

 

Plays will rehearse 3 times per week, with an expected increase in rehearsals the week before performances. Because the festival is virtual, students anywhere in the world are encouraged to audition! Feel free to reach out to Noah Hazzard (nhazzard@tulane.edu) with any questions.
