REFRAMED 2020

REFRAMED 2020: A Festival of New Plays on Social Justice, presented by Tulane University’s Department of Theatre and Dance, features scripts created specifically for the festival that aim to stretch the boundaries of digital performance by combining the magic of live theatre with the technological possibilities of the online forum. The five short plays artistically embrace the new normals of social distancing with actors performing in isolation, while the creative team use new live performance mediums to engage with movements occurring across America and the world.

The festival, led by a team of New York and California based guest artists and Tulane faculty, includes Miss Most Pressing Issue, written by Zury Margarita Ruiz and directed by Sylvia Cervantes Blush; Gratitude Assignment, written and directed by Jenny Mercein; Blood Money,written and directed by Lori Elizabeth Parquet; Of Mice and Whites, by Timothy DuWhite and directed by Zhailon Levingston; and Hay Una Mujer Desaparecida, directed by Jessica Podwell and created by the cast and design team. The shows feature performances from Tulane students and New Orleans based actors, and Blood Money features a guest appearance from Jerry Springer, legendary talk show host and Tulane alumnus.

The virtual performances are on October 15th, 16th, and 17th at 7pm and October 18th at 2pm via YouTube Live and will feature a talkback led by a different moderator after each show. Tickets are free but require audiences to pre-register at https://forms.gle/Zjk7H6z7yLtCQGT96.
