Funding Equity: Black Professionals in Philanthropy

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Black Philanthropy Month, this virtual event will explore the far-reaching impact of Black professionals working in the field of philanthropy. The session will be moderated by Dr. Halima Leak Francis, Director of Tulane’s Public Administration Program, who will lead a dynamic discussion with panelists:

• Marc Barnes, Ph.D. – Vice President, Institutional Advancement and Ex Officio Board Member, Center For Racial Justice - Dillard University
• Kimberly O’Neil – Founding Member, HERitage Giving Fund and Faculty, Tulane SoPA Public Administration Program
• Christy Slater – Program Officer, W.K. Kellogg Foundation

Launched in August 2011, Black Philanthropy Month (BPM) was created by Dr. Jackie Bouvier Copeland and the Pan-African Women's Philanthropy Network (PAWPNet). BPM is commemorated annually in August and is a global celebration of giving by people of African-descent. Marking the 10th anniversary of BPM, the 2021 theme is “TENacity: Making Equity Real.”
