Fridays at Newcomb: Melissa Weber

“Finding Ourselves in Archives”
Melissa A. Weber is curator of the Hogan Archive of New Orleans Music and New Orleans Jazz, a division of Tulane University Special Collections with Tulane Libraries. The Hogan Archive supports the research and study of New Orleans music and culture of the late 19th and 20th centuries forward.
As a music historian, Weber has presented her research at academic conferences for the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM) and the National Council for Black Studies, among others. She also teaches a History of Urban Music course for the College of Music and Media at Loyola University New Orleans.
Fridays at Newcomb is a free lunch and lecture series featuring speakers across disciplines. Lunch will be distributed at the end of the event for attendees to take to go. Please note that non-Tulane guests must provide either proof of vaccination OR a negative PCR COVID-19 test that was taken within the past 72 hours.
