Join OMA for a virtual event on EDI & Medicine. Last Summer Nabeela Nathoo, MD, PhD & Janis M. Miyasaki, MD, MED, FRCPC, FAAN co-authored a post for Neurology Blog titled Call Me By My Name. The post was focused on microaggressions, racism, sexism and other forms of oppression experienced by medical professionals. During this session you will get to hear about their experiences and advice to those interested in pursuing a career in the field of medicine. There will be a question and answer session after the presentation.

Nabeela Nathoo, MD, PhD, is one of the chief neurology residents at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She will be pursuing a fellowship in multiple sclerosis at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester) after completing her residency. Her interests including neuroimaging, clinical trials, and advocacy for racial and ethnic diversity in clinical research.

Janis Miyasaki, MD, MEd, FRCPC, FAAN, is a Professor of Medicine/Neurology and the first Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta. She is the Vice President of AAN 2021-2023.
