TUCP Direction is SO excited to announce that Stephanie Beatriz is coming to speak at Tulane! Join us in McAlister Auditorium on Thursday, April 14th at 8 PM for the event! Doors open at 7 PM and you must have a valid splash card to enter. Tulane’s own Carolyn Barber-Pierre from the Center for Intercultural Life is moderating the discussion.

A natural talent with a striking presence, Stephanie Beatriz continues to skillfully navigate the entertainment industry with an array of versatile and complex roles defining her body of work.
Beatriz can currently be seen in the 6th season of BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, which was brought back by popular demand on NBC. This season will mark her directorial debut – the episode features a relevant #MeToo storyline. Beatriz’s standout performance as ‘Detective Rosa Diaz’ has earned rave reviews and numerous awards, including the 2018 Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series and a 2015 Screen Actors Guild Nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. This follows being including in the Hollywood Hot List by LATINA Magazine. In addition, the series has also garnered critical acclaim, including the 2018 GLAAD Award for Outstanding Comedy Series and the 2014 Golden Globe for Best Television Series.
She recently voiced ‘Sweet Mayhem’ in THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART, which was released on February 8th, 2019 by Warner Bros. This film is the sequel to the first title in the wildly successful LEGO franchise, which racked up $469 million at the global box office. With a gifted voice that transcends, Beatriz has also lent her voice to a variety of noteworthy animated projects, including: Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s Critics Choice award winning adult comedy BOJACK HORSEMAN from Netflix; Loren Bouchard’s Primetime Emmy Award winning sitcom BOB’S BURGERS from Fox Broadcasting; Mike Thurmeier’s ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE from Twentieth Century Fox; and the family comedy DANGER & EGGS from Amazon.
This success follows her riveting leading performance in the 2017 SXSW Audience Award winning film, THE LIGHT OF THE MOON, in which she also served as an executive producer. Says Teo Bugbee, top critic at THE NEW YORK TIMES, “As a resource for those looking to understand the process of recovery, it's hard to imagine a more comprehensive or sympathetic look at the challenge of surviving.” THE LIGHT OF THE MOON scored 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

As a bisexual Latina, Beatriz is known for her outspoken advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and queer representation in the entertainment industry. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband.
