Why Non-Binary and Trans Rights are a Jewish Value Zoom Panel Discussion

Join us on Thursday, March 10th at 6 PM for a virtual panel discussion and dinner about transgender and non-binary issues from a Jewish perspective, specifically targeted towards Jewish and Queer students, but open to the entire Tulane community-from near and afar.

The presentation will begin with grounding exercises and lead into a definition of terms and an explanation of intersectionality and the range of experiences of trans people. This section will be led by Anneliese Singh, Professor of Social Work and Associate Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity/Chief Diversity Officer.

We will then move into a panel discussion with student speakers, Leo Levine, Jewish Studies major at Tulane University, Dr. Jason Gaines, Professor of Jewish Studies, and Rabbi Greg Weisman, rabbi at Temple Beth El of Boca Raton and creator of the congregation’s Racial Equity Leadership Team and an LGBTQ+ Task Force.

We hope you join us to learn, discuss and connect. After the zoom panel, there will be the option to continue the discussions and strengthen Tulane’s LGBTQ-affirming community by joining bi-monthly coffee hangouts at Hillel, a space in which all queer Jewish youth feel seen and valued.
