Interested in learning more about data-driven/intensive research? Join us for a talk from Tulane's own Patrick Rafail, PhD, Associate Professor of Sociology.
Research on fatal police shootings (FPS) draws heavily on information published by journalists or crowdsourced data entry. Concerns about these sources are growing, but little work has attempted to validate and assess existing databases on FPS. This talk summarizes a research project aimed at collecting, validating, and improving data on FPS using 6,000 shootings that occurred between 2014 and 2018.
