Hear from a panel of four upper-division Tulane students who will highlight their distinctive Tulane experiences, moderated by the Dean of Newcomb-Tulane College 

Mollye Demosthenidy, Dean of Newcomb-Tulane College, and Dusty Porter, Vice President for Student Affairs, will moderate a panel of select upper-division students who will share their internship, research, public service and campus leadership experiences. Additionally, they will offer advice on how parents can support their students in planning for and making the most of these kinds of enriching and transforming educational opportunities.

Our featured student panelists have a great variety of academic pursuits, career interests and worthwhile experiences.

Rin Hu (she/they) is a Stamps Scholar and a senior double majoring in Design and Psychology and minoring in Graphic Design through SOPA. At Tulane, she has been involved in the Asian American Student Union (AASU) formerly as their PR Chair and now as their Senior Advisor. She also is a part of Tulane Ladies’ A Cappella (TULA), Sexual Aggression Peer Hotline and Education (SAPHE), and plays intramural volleyball with her friends in her free time. Currently, Rin is a Graphic Design Intern at the NTC Office of Academic Enrichment and a Fabrication Labs Assistant in the School of Architecture but has previously worked as a Teaching Assistant for Fundamentals of Design and Making (DESG-1005) and Design Studio I (DESG-2005) and as a Digital Research Intern at Newcomb Institute. Over the past summer, they worked as a Design Intern at the Democratic National Committee (DNC), where they got to produce various graphics not only for the DNC but also for President Biden and Vice President Harris.

Bella Castro is a dynamic, biracial (Brazilian-American), trilingual sophomore studying Business Management, Spanish, and Philosophy! On campus, Bella is an RA in Wall Residential Hall, a Peer Mentor for the TIDES class Afro-Brazilian Resistance, a member of the First Year 5 social media team in the Office of First Year Experience (follow us @firstyear.tulane!), treasurer and soprano singer in Green Envy A Capella, a member of Phi Mu sorority, and an opera singer in Tulane’s Opera Program. Bella absolutely loves Tulane and is proud, grateful, and excited to be a part of such an incredible community!

Eshan Damle is a Senior at Tulane University double majoring in Neuroscience and Cell & Molecular Biology with minors in Philosophy and Psychology. After graduation, he plans to attend medical school. On campus, Eshan serves as Co-President of the School of Science and Engineering Student Government and President of The Research Ambassadors. He is also a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Physiology and a Resident Advisor in Mayer Residence Hall. Eshan is a member of the all-volunteer New Orleans Medical Reserve Corps and is passionate about biomedical research, with his work having been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences. In his free time, he enjoys playing the piano and capturing aerial perspectives through drone photography.

Zoe Yates is a Junior at Tulane studying International Development concentrating in Latin America. She is also pursuing her gender-based violence certification and geographical information science (GIS) certification. Zoe’s languages of focus are Spanish and Portuguese improved and developed through various fully funded study abroad programs in Brazil, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic. She plans to spend the spring 2024 semester in Rio, Brazil followed by a summer doing a research project in Belem, Brazil mapping waterways in the Amazon River to the Atlantic Ocean. Zoe is involved in College Scholars, a prestigious cohort program for sophomores to build connections with research-active faculty at Tulane, and the TIERA (Tulane Interdisciplinary Environmental Research and Action) program. Zoe is from Monroe, Washington, and has grown to love everything New Orleans has to offer!
