Career Chat: Screenwriting as a Career Path

We are starting the Spring 2024 Career Chat Series with a conversation with two screenwriters. Join us for this virtual 1-hour conversation with Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy before they go on location for their new Netflix movie that will be filming on location in March.

The writing team of Elizabeth Hackett & Hilary Galanoy has worked in both film and television. They’ve sold original material and performed rewrites on projects at numerous production companies, studios, and cable channels, including Universal, Fox, Paramount, and Freeform. Elizabeth and Hilary’s produced movies include: the hit Netflix romantic comedies A PERFECT PAIRING, LOVE, GUARANTEED, and FALLING INN LOVE; Hallmark Channel’s MY BEST FRIEND’S BOUQUET, SWEPT UP BY CHRISTMAS, and FIR CRAZY; Disney Channel’s GEEK CHARMING; and Nickelodeon’s RAGS. Elizabeth and Hilary also served as writers and co-producers on Netflix's award-winning children's series PROJECT MC2. The duo currently has three upcoming movies at Netflix: the romantic comedies LA DOLCE VILLA (which begins filming in March 2024), SIT STAY LOVE, and THE MORE THE MERRIER. Additionally, they’re writing a film project for Mar Vista titled NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, as well as MONDAYS ARE MURDER, a one-hour drama/comedy pilot for ABC Signature and Amazon. Away from work, Elizabeth is witty on social media, while Hilary enjoys yoga and wine (not usually at the same time).
