Talk by, Dr. Courtney Cox "Double Crossover: Gender, Politics, and Performance in Global Basketball."

In her talk, Dr. Cox charts how women and non-binary athletes choreograph their lives within the contemporary possibilities and precarity of the global sports-media complex. Employing the crossover (a basketball maneuver) as a metaphor, this project critically examines how these athletes cross over both national borders and gendered expectations, subverting the constraints imposed upon them and cultivating new forms of cultural expression and political thought.
