The Native American and Indigenous Studies Program at Tulane University is hosting the 2025 Indigenous Studies Symposium on March 15, 2025, with the theme “Indigenous Innovation.” This symposium will bring scholars, culture bearers, activists, tribal leaders, and representatives of Louisiana and Gulf South Indigenous communities together to share updates on language and culture revitalization projects, learn about new research on Indigenous topics in the region, share opportunities for collaboration and development, and build community. The theme "Indigenous Innovation” applies to all these dimensions because, despite facing new and persistent challenges, Indigenous people in the Gulf South continue to thrive and grow through innovative strategies for preserving, sharing, and expanding our cultures, foodways, and traditions.
