Trishala Bhansali: Founder of Lekha Designs

We’re thrilled to welcome designer Trishala Bhansali to TU Fashion! With roots in both New Orleans and India, Bhansali's fashion line, Lekha, blends the rich cultural influences of both places, featuring handcrafted garments made from natural fabrics like muslin and linen. Her designs are inspired by her royal Indian heritage and a commitment to sustainability and ethical fashion, influenced by her grandmother, Vijaya Raje Scindia.
In her talk, Bhansali will discuss her journey from a young designer to launching her brand Lekha, the importance of preserving traditional textiles, and her work with artisans in both New Orleans and India. She’ll explore the intersection of culture, fashion, and entrepreneurship, offering insights into how her multicultural upbringing shapes her design philosophy.
Trishala’s vision for Lekha is to foster deeper connections between consumers and the artisans who craft the pieces they wear. Through collaborations with women’s empowerment groups and rural communities, Lekha aims to create a legacy of change by helping women gain financial independence. This dedication to ethical, handmade goods unites thoughtful consumers, talented creators, and global nonprofits working toward a more economically viable future for women.
