Tulane School of Professional Advancement presents a Healthcare Industry Coffee Chat. This is an opportunity for SoPA students to hear from healthcare professionals in an informal setting to discuss the industry, career trajectory, and tips on how to best position yourself for a career in this field.

Join Tyra Mitchell and Karen Perine of Ochsner Health System, SoPA Program Director Lelaine Dornier, and Senior Career Advisor Cynthia Washington for coffee and dessert to learn more about what it takes to be successful in a career in healthcare.

Program Director, Professor of Practice for Kinesiology, Dr. Lanie Dornier has over 25 years of experience in higher education. Prior to Tulane University, Dr. Dornier served on the faculty at Texas Tech University and as Chair of the Kinesiology Department at Louisiana Tech University, where she developed curricula based on allied health. Her primary area of focus is motor learning/control, and she has taught courses in sport psychology, sociology of sport, and research methods.

Dr. Tyra Mitchell is a Physical Therapist and Healthcare Administrator at Ochsner Health System. Dr. Mitchell’s practice includes adult, geriatrics, hospital, skilled nursing facilities, sports medicine, orthopedics, home health, critical care, and a host of other clinical settings.

Karen Perine is a Speech-Language Pathologist and Acute Rehab Supervisor at Ochsner Medical Center. Karen’s passion for helping others coupled with her enthusiasm for working with patients of all ages as a Speech-Language Pathologist serves as the foundation of Ochsner’s core values and standards.
