Ezekiel J. Emanuel is the Vice Provost for Global Initiatives, the Diane v.S. Levy and Robert M. Levy University Professor, and Chair of the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a Special Advisor to the Director General of the World Health Organization and one of the leading practitioners shaping the future of health care, with a long record of experience at the top levels of policy. From January 2009 to January 2011, Dr. Emanuel was a special advisor for health policy to the White House Office of Management and Budget and one of the most prominent voices advising the White House about health care, where he had a significant impact on federal health care budgets and the Affordable Care Act.

For the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Health Policy and Management Department, Dr. Emanuel will be discussing Megatrends in Health Care. American health care is changing more rapidly now than it has in decades. What will our health care system look like 5 or 10 years from now? How will it impact us? Dr. Emanuel will outline the changing landscape of American health care. He will discuss the effects of health reform on our current system and then make specific, data-driven predictions about the future of American health care. He will conclude with concrete advice for what you can do to adapt to this new environment. Dr. Emanuel will take questions for 30 minutes after the lecture. This event is open to the public. We invite people of all ages, races, ethnicities, and sexual orientations to join us.
