Older Adults in Emergencies: Outbreaks and Natural Disasters

The Aging is Public Health 2019-2020 Seminar Series proudly presents "Older Adults in Emergencies: Outbreaks & Natural Disasters" featuring Shayna Goldfine, MPH, and Lina Moses, PhD, MSPH.

This is the fourth seminar in the Aging is Public Health 2019-2020 Seminar Series which will take place during the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. In addition to our faculty, staff, and students of both downtown and uptown Tulane University campuses, this series is open to members of the New Orleans community to encourage participants to examine their work with a lens of aging and to consider aging as the future of life and work opportunities.

Shayna Goldfine, MPH, is a second year PhD student in the Global Environmental Health Science Department focusing on Disaster Management. She has a Masters from Tulane in Public Health Disaster Management. She has done public health disaster work both locally and abroad. In addition to her studies, Shayna works for New Orleans EMS doing emergency management and planning.

Lina Moses, PhD, MSPH, is an assistant professor at Tulane’s School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, specializing in preparedness and response to infectious disease outbreaks. Moses has conducted investigations and surveillance to Lassa fever, monkeypox, yellow fever, and Ebola outbreaks in West Africa and currently serves on the steering committee for the World Health Organization’s Global Outbreak and Alert Response Network.
