Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the college experience will be very different this fall. Many activities are being limited due to the restrictions on large groups. But what does this mean for college sports? What will the student-athletes, coaching staff, and fan experience be this year in the world of collegiate sports?

 In 1955, when racial segregation defined the South, two teams of 12-year-old boys stepped onto a baseball field in a non-violent act of cultural defiance that would change the course of history. Sixty-years later, the players of the first racially integrated little league baseball game in the South reflect on this revolutionary event in the documentary, building a bridge to healing the social divide that still exists in our country today.

3rd Annual James R. Andrews, MD Endowed Lectureship in Sports Medicine

The arena of youth sports in ever changing. Currently, sports specialization is contributing to an increase in exposure to acute and overuse injuries in youth athletes. A major objective facing sports health providers is to develop a more standardized approach to assessing acute injuries that occur during play, as well as the prevention and treatment of overuse injuries in specialized athletes.  The discussions of how to address both types of injuries, acute and overuse will be a benefit in the way of patient care and intervention of the injuries. 

Sports Lawyers Association Conference

Each year, the Sports Lawyers Association hosts a conference dedicated to the sports law industry. Tulane students may attend the conference for free. In addition to learning more about the complex legal issues impacting professional and amateur athletics and networking with industry professionals, sports law students have the opportunity to meet and interact with Tulane law alums in the sports law field at the annual Tulane Sports Law Alumni Reception held in the first evening of the SLA conference. The conference also offers CLE credits for alumni.

5th Annual Tulane Professional Football Negotiation Competition

The Professional Football Negotiation Competition, run by the Tulane Sports Law Society, is a simulated contract negotiation using real life scenarios and actual upcoming NFL free agents.  The competition will provide participants with the opportunity to sharpen their negotiation skills as well as their knowledge of actual NFL contracts.  In order to simulate an actual negotiation, the participants will receive a set of confidential objectives that serve as guidelines for the negotiation.  Participants will either represent the fo

Annual International Baseball Arbitration Competition

The Tulane International Baseball Arbitration Competition, run by the Tulane Sports Law Society, is a simulated salary arbitration competition modeled closely on the procedures used by Major League Baseball (MLB). Like most law school moot court competitions, TIBAC’s main goal is to provide participants with the opportunity to sharpen their oral and written advocacy skills. However, the competition is unique in that it allows law students to sharpen these skills within the specialized context of MLB's salary arbitration proceedings.
