Organize, Cite, and Manage: Using Zotero for Research Data Management Workshop

Zotero is a free tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share information. We will also consider it as a tool for long-term research data management. In this workshop we will install Zotero, add sources to a library, create a bibliography in the citation style of your choice, and learn the basics of organizing and managing research sources as data for the long-haul. This workshop may be recorded and shared afterwards.

Literature Search Reporting: Using PRISMA-S to Improve Transparency & Reproducibility Workshop

Can your readers reproduce your literature search? The literature search is the core methodology for a systematic review. Transparency and reproducibility are necessary to assess bias and reduce duplicative research. However, estimates of search “reproducibility” of a search range from .004% to 14% of published systematic reviews. PRISMA-S, which builds on the PRISMA reporting guideline, was created to help librarians, information specialists, and systematic reviewers transparently report searches.

Intermediate Data Cleaning Using Basic Programming Workshop

In this hands-on intermediate workshop, attendees will explore possibilities for more advanced data cleaning using a free, open-source tool (OpenRefine). The workshop will also cover basic OpenRefine functionality and the use of Jython scripts and regular expressions. Pre-loading Openrefine prior to the workshop is highly encouraged. This workshop may be recorded and shared afterwards. Requirements: Computers, OpenRefine, Internet access.

Enhancing Rigor and Reproducibility in Research Workshop

As of 2016, most NIH and AHRQ research grant applications are required to comply with the NIH Policy on Rigor and Reproducibility. In addition to federal funders, many publishers are also now requiring "Reproducibility Guidelines". In this workshop we will provide a brief overview of best practices in reproducibility including creating unique identifiers, file naming, and general guidelines put forth by medical and science academic publishers. We will also show some of the tools available to help you meet these new guidelines.
