WORKSHOP: In the Archives: Researching and Learning with Primary Source Materials about New Orleans

This session is an introduction to archives for the novice user, whether student, faculty, or staff member. It also provides a hands-on experience for attendees to engage with primary source materials, and to answer research questions related to holdings from the Hogan Archive of New Orleans Music and New Orleans Jazz, a unit of Tulane University Special Collections. In this workshop we will use some of the more "traditional" to investigate funding opportunities relevant to your field. We will also go outside the box and investigate creative ways to find relevant funding and grant opportunities that you may never have considered! This workshop will be ZOOM only

WORKSHOP: Measuring your Impact: Impact Factors and Altmetrics

This workshop will help you measure and assess your impact in the scholarly community and beyond. Using tools such as Web of Science, InCites, Google Scholar, Publish or Perish, and Altmetric Bookmarklet we will explore the different ways to conduct a citation analysis, locate your h-index, and alternative metrics (twitter, blogs, social networking). Although this workshop is geared towards published scholars (formal publications or blogs), it is also useful for students looking to find collaborators, supervisors, or career opportunities.

WORKSHOP: Organize, Cite, and Manage: Using Zotero for Research Data Management

Zotero is a free tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share information. We will also consider it as a tool for long-term research data management. In this workshop we will install Zotero, add sources to a library, create a bibliography in the citation style of your choice, and learn the basics of organizing and managing research sources as data for the long-haul.
