Building upon the city’s great legacy of live performance and improvisation, this concert is structured as a site-specific new musical response to the objects on view in “Empire” featuring composer Courtney Bryan from the Tulane Newcomb Department of Music as she interprets the objects on view using an interdisciplinary framework. Free and open to the public!

You're invited to join the museum for a FREE Family Day this Saturday! Kids of all ages are welcome to take part in art activities from printmaking to collage–they can even get the chance to make their very own "cabinet of curiosities." Activities are designed in stations to be enjoyed by children at every skill level–from toddler to teen! Inspired by the museum's current tricentennial exhibition EMPIRE, the Free Family Day at Newcomb encourages children and families to interact with the city's history to create brand new artworks together.

This two-hour drawing intensive is open anyone to 15-yrs old or older who want to explore drawing in depth and with focus. This class is great for interested beginners, students working on a college portfolio and experienced artists who want some focused drawing time. Using many of the objects on view in EMPIRE, our trained instructor will show you how to depict any object accurately, no matter how complicated. One on one instruction will meet all skill levels. Each participant will leave with their drawing(s).
