Abstract:
The Africana Studies Program introduces to campus a new, ongoing series, Black Studies Book Club. Each semester, BSBC brings a scholar whose recent publication has shifted the conversation in Africana Studies to campus to give a public lecture and discuss their recent work (free and open to everyone). Our fourth Black Studies Book Club Scholar is Tina Campt, who will be speaking about her book Listening to Images on Thursday, March, 16 at 6pm in Stone Auditorium 210 at the Woldenberg Art Center at Tulane University. There will be a reception following the moderated Q&A.

On December 9-10, 2022, the Newcomb Art Department will host the Dutch Americas Symposium ymposium marking the end of the first iteration of the Dutch Americas humanities lab, co-taught by Stephanie Porras at Tulane and Aaron Hyman at Johns Hopkins. On Friday, December 9th, Professor Carrie Anderson will deliver a keynote address on the topic of the Dutch West India Company’s presence in the Atlantic world.
